About 1 million people in the world are living in famine conditions and 3 billion people do not have access to healthy food, said UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
He said these things in a message on Sunday (October 16) on the occasion of World Food Day. The theme of this year’s World Food Day is ‘Leave no one behind.’ More production, more nutrition, better environment and better life.’
The UN Secretary General said that this year’s World Food Day is being celebrated at a difficult time for global food security. The number of hungry people has more than doubled in the last three years.
António Guterres said pandemics, climate crises, environmental disasters, conflicts and growing inequality have hit the most vulnerable. The Ukraine war has fueled food, fertilizer and fuel price hikes. But we can solve all of these if we take action together.
